From Approved Floor Display Design to Production

An approved rendering may already define the shape, branding and overall appearance of a custom floor display, but a full-size freestanding unit still needs production details behind the visual.

Before sampling, we review how the product load is supported, how shelves and branded elements connect to the main structure, how different materials meet, and where lighting or wiring needs to sit inside the display.

The goal is to resolve these points early so the physical floor display can stay close to the approved visual without leaving major fit, support or alignment changes until later in the project.

Floor Display Stands & Freestanding Retail Displays

Samtop produces custom floor display stands and freestanding retail displays in a range of common formats for in-store merchandising and branded retail programs. The right format depends on how the products need to be presented -- including the number of SKUs, shelf layout, viewing direction, lighting requirements and the overall structure of the display.

Floor Display Built Around Real Product

Built Around the Real Product

Our custom floor displays are developed around the actual merchandise, not just the outside shape of the fixture. Before sampling, we review product dimensions, weight, quantity, shelf position and customer access.

This allows the shelf layout, support points and presentation areas to be developed around how the products will actually sit on the display. For larger freestanding displays, this is especially important because product position and load can affect the balance and support of the complete unit.

The advantage: the finished display is developed around the real merchandising requirement from the start, reducing the need to change shelves or support points after the physical sample is built.

Multi-Material Construction for Complex Floor Displays

Our custom floor displays can combine metal, MDF, resin, acrylic, molded parts and decorative elements within one finished structure. Different materials can be used where they make the most sense.

Metal can provide support, MDF can form larger bodies or shelves, while resin or molded parts can create branded shapes and decorative details. During sampling, we review how those parts connect -- including fixing methods, joints, gaps and visible transitions.

The advantage: each component can use a material suited to its shape, weight and function while still coming together as one finished display. This also helps reduce weak joints, poor fixing and visible mismatches at final assembly.

Floor Display Finish Options

Finish Options Matched to the Visual Target

Our floor displays are not limited to one material or one finishing process to achieve a particular visual effect. For metallic and gold appearances, for example, we have used plated stainless steel, plated resin, metallic film over MDF and metallic paint.

The right route depends on the shape, weight, function and surface requirement of the individual component. This flexibility allows different parts of the same display to achieve a coordinated visual direction even when the materials underneath are different.

The advantage: the production method can be selected around the component instead of forcing every part into the same process, helping keep the approved visual while making the construction more practical.

Branding Integrated Into the Display

A custom floor display can do more than hold products. The branding itself can become part of the physical structure and visual presentation. Large logos, metal lettering, decorative frames, mesh panels, graphics, lighting and campaign props can all be integrated into the display rather than added as separate elements afterward.

This gives more freedom to turn a floor-standing fixture into a stronger branded feature within the retail space, especially for launches, seasonal programs and campaign installations.

The advantage: product merchandising and brand presentation can work together in one finished display, giving the fixture more visual presence than a standard retail rack.

Engineering and Production Control for Custom Floor Displays

A full-size floor display brings product load, structure, branded elements, finishes and assembly together in one unit. Samtop reviews the points that have the greatest effect on how the approved design performs as a physical display and how consistently it can be repeated in production.

1

Structure and Load Reviewed Before Sampling

We review the base, frame, load-bearing points and key fixing details with the actual product size and weight in mind. This allows structural questions to be resolved before the sample is built and before visible finishes make later changes more difficult.

2

Full-Size Fit and Visual Balance

We review product position, shelf spacing, customer access, branded elements and overall visual openness on the assembled full-size display. This helps identify proportion, merchandising or alignment issues that may be difficult to judge from the rendering alone.

3

Finish and Repeat-Production Control

Once the sample is approved, color, finish, structural stability and assembly alignment become important production checkpoints. Reflective and mixed-material finishes receive particular attention because small surface or color differences can become more visible when the complete unit comes together.

4

Full Assembly Before Shipment

Where appropriate, the complete floor display can be trial assembled to check locating points, product fit, alignment and connections before packing. If the approved structure includes removable or knock-down connections, the relevant parts and connectors can also be numbered for local reassembly.

Real Floor Display Production Examples

120-Set Display Production
120 Sets | Approx. 6,000 Parts | ABS Injection Molding | Robotic Spray + Oven Cure

120-Set Display With Approx. 6,000 ABS Rings

A retail project required 120 floor display sets containing approximately 6,000 repeated circular decorative parts.

Challenge

The rings needed a consistent appearance while remaining light enough to attach onto supporting rods. Producing every ring in metal would have added unnecessary weight.

What We Did

The repeated parts were changed to injection-molded ABS. Robotic spraying and oven curing were used for batch finishing.

Result

The production route was better suited to the repeated quantity while keeping the decorative parts lightweight for assembly.

Reflective Resin Football for a Campaign Display

The approved design included a football-shaped decorative element with a highly reflective metallic appearance.

Challenge

The curved surface and football pattern made small surface defects much easier to see after plating.

What We Did

The component was resin cast and went through three rounds of wet sanding before plating. A UV-cured protective layer was added afterward.

Result

The additional preparation helped create a cleaner reflective appearance across the patterned curved surface.

Metal Frame Train Display
Iron Frame | Vacuum-Formed Body | Spray Paint Finish

Metal Frame With a Vacuum-Formed Train Body

A campaign display required a large train-shaped visual element.

Challenge

The piece needed internal support without making the complete outer form unnecessarily heavy.

What We Did

An iron frame provided the internal structure, while the train-shaped outer body was vacuum formed and spray painted.

Result

The supporting structure and decorative outer body could each use a material suited to its own function.

Illuminated Display With Hidden Wiring

The approved display required integrated lighting without visible wiring across the finished surface.

Challenge

The cables, connectors and power supply still needed to remain practical for connection and local setup.

What We Did

Wiring was routed through hollow structural tubes. Connectors were concealed inside, the power supply was positioned in the base and connection points were numbered.

Result

The lighting remained visually integrated while the connection points stayed clear for local setup.

Frequently Asked Questions About Custom Floor Displays

How do you choose materials for a custom floor display?

Material choice depends on the function of each component. We consider structure, weight, shape, quantity, use environment and required finish rather than selecting one material for the complete display.

Can floor displays include integrated LED lighting?

Yes. Depending on the structure, LED lighting can be integrated into logos, shelves or decorative elements. Wiring can also run through hollow structural sections where the design allows.

Can a floor display be packed in separate parts for shipping?

Only when the approved structure includes removable connections, or a knock-down structure has been reviewed and confirmed before production. Not every floor display can simply be separated for shipping.

How are plated or high-gloss parts protected during shipping?

Packing depends on the shape and finish of the component. High-finish parts may use individual wrapping and shape-matched EVA protection to reduce rubbing and movement during transportation.
